PENANG PAYS TRIBUTE TO FRONTLINERS WITH APPRECIATION PERKS AND FREE PASSES!

Penang, 10 July 2020.  The Penang State Tourism, headed by YB Yeoh Soon Hin, Penang State EXCO for Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage (PETACH), today announced it is honouring essential workers in Malaysia working at the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis with free passes and attractive deals. The Thank You Frontliners campaign aims to express Penang State Tourism’s appreciation of the sacrifices and contributions made by the frontliners in battling against the pandemic.

The Thank You Frontliners campaign includes complimentary admission tickets and attractive discounts on accommodations, attractions as well as weddings in Penang to eligible Malaysian frontliners. Those eligible to receive the perks and free passes under this campaign are the Malaysian police, state health department, locally deployed military, immigration, civil defence, city councils, and RELA officers.

The tourism industry players, especially Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) and Association of Tourism Attractions, Penang (ATAP) have shown great support in extending the “best-of-the- best” deals for the frontliners as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) contribution for the community.

A total of 18 ATAP members, ranging from attractions to retailers and a restaurant, are providing free admission tickets and irresistible deals to recognise and reward frontline staff. Amongst some of the must-grab perks are those offered by world-class attractions such as Tropical Spice Garden, Entopia by Penang Butterfly Farm, The Habitat Penang Hill, The Top Penang, Tech Dome Penang and more.

Meanwhile, members of the Penang Wedding Professional Association (PWPA) have curated 62 “once-in-a-lifetime” deals under its own campaign known as PWPACares. Soon-to-be-wed frontliners who had to postpone their weddings due to the pandemic will be honoured with attractive deals by various hotels, event spaces, and wedding vendors for an unforgettable wedding in Penang.

YB Yeoh Soon Hin, Penang State EXCO for Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage (PETACH) said, “The frontliners are our heroes. While most of us stayed home, these frontliners worked nonstop every day, including weekends and festive seasons, and even during the fasting month to curb the spread of the virus. Some of these heroes even had to postpone their weddings just to keep us safe.

“But even heroes need a break. We know it has been tough for the frontliners. That’s why we are offering free passes and attractive deals to essential workers in Malaysia working at the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis. These exclusive perks and complimentary passes, also known collectively as the Thank You Frontliners campaign, is our way of saying ‘thank you’ for the sacrifices and contributions made by the frontliners in battling against the pandemic.

“To our Malaysian police, health departments, locally deployed military, immigration, civil defence, city councils, and RELA, visit penangtraveldeals.com and check out the exclusive deals under the Thank You Frontliners campaign that we have curated exclusively for you.  After three months, it’s time to enjoy a well-deserved break with your loved ones or start to plan for your wedding with a trip to Penang — a world-class holiday and wedding destination fit for our local heroes.”
